Astley took to the stage for the first time wearing a Salmon Pink two-piece suit accompanied by an inconspicuous black t shirt. Not only playing the music of Harry Styles, as he performed the 2022 hit As It Was, Astley looked remarkably similar and appeared to channel the fashion sense of the illustrious Brit who is widely known for his eccentric colour and clothing choices. In the evening, during a surprise set with Blossoms, he adorned a second two-piece, this time in an eye-catching Sky-Blue colourway with another plain t-shirt, this time white. He has made a compelling case for dressed down formalwear, and it is something that we can get behind. Covering a variety of songs from The Smiths, he showed us that there isn’t a light going out anytime soon, that light being Astley and his commanding showmanship of course.
BRANDON FLOWERS
Sunday was all about Elton John, his final performance in the UK and a fairy-tale ending to an illustrious career. Complete with an outfit that resembled a Goldfinger victim, he seemed ready to go out with a bang on one of the biggest platforms in music. As the performance reached the twilight stage, we witnessed Brandon Flowers of the Killers come out to complete a rendition of the 70s classic, Tiny Dancer. Flowers, dressed in a Claret-Red two-piece suit with a Sky-Blue shirt underneath, it could be argued that he began to overshadow the legendary Rocketman. The gold accents on his buttons reflected the regal nature of the situation, performing with one of pop’s biggest royals. We believe that you should take some notes from Flowers’ example, whether that is wearing a suit without a tie or trying a flamboyant colourway, there is something to be learned from his performance.
